Book and Zine Structures

Learn how to create simple books or zines from a variety of easy, effective structures that you can make out of almost any kind of paper. We will explore:

•    Eight fold – a single sheet of paper makes a book, so you can print a zine with no worries about imposition!
•    Accordion fold – this classic structure has so many fun variations, including a technique to make it as long as you want to
•    Butterfly pamphlet stitch – an easy way to sew up a book
•    Simple book covers – can be made with decorative paper or book cloth, your choice!

You will come away with models and ideas for how to manifest your content and ideas in a variety of structures. We’ll also cover techniques for making multiples so you have more to share with your friends.

Rubber stamps and ink, plain and decorated papers, book cloth and board, and all other materials are provided.
